Turmeric Soup: Controlling Inflammation To Chronic Diseases
If you’re sickly, prone to inflammation overload, this delicious turmeric soup is the best solution for you. This refreshing Moroccan soup protects from a number of diseases, including inflammation, cancer and dementia. Plus, it’s very tasty and nutritious, made of turmeric, carrots, black pepper and other fragrant spices.
Let’s us say a few words about the main ingredients.
Carrot is a very popular vegetable, thanks to the abundance of beta-carotene, which the human body converts into vitamin A.
Turmeric is known for its anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and anti-cancer properties.
Black pepper is rich in piperine, an ingredient similar to capsaicin. It relieves pain and has potent anti-inflammatory properties.
How To Make Moroccan Turmeric Soup
For the preparation, you will need the following ingredients:
- 2 teaspoons of turmeric
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- 1 tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1/3 teaspoon of sweet pepper
- 1 cup of chopped onion
- 3 cups carrot, cut into cubes
- 3 cups of chicken or vegetable stock
- 2 chopped garlic cloves (or more if desired)
- A pinch of black pepper and salt
- 1/2 cup of yogurt
Melt the butter in a large cooking pot and add the onion and garlic. Cook them over medium heat for about 2 minutes. Next, add the carrots and braise them for a few minutes. Pour the chicken or vegetable broth and bring the mixture to boil. Reduce the heat, cover the pot and let it simmer for about 20 minutes, until the carrots are completely tender. In the end, add turmeric.
While the soup is cooking, take a pan, add the cumin seeds and stir-fry them for about 5 minutes, without oil. Then, transfer the seeds in a grinder and grind.
Remove the soup from the heat. Leave it aside to cool down a bit. Then, transfer it in a food processor and pulse, until you get a consistent and creamy mixture.
Return the soup in the cooking pot and stir in the honey, lemon juice and sweet pepper. If you like eating salt and black pepper, season the soup. If not, skip this step.
Serve the turmeric soup in a deep bowl. Combine the ground cumin with the yogurt and add it to the soup. And that’s it! Pretty easy, right?
Turmeric And Black Pepper – An Unbeatable Combination
Turmeric, thanks to the curcumin it contains, is one of the healthiest spices in the world. This ingredient provides 13 times bigger antioxidant protection than blueberries. However, it has one drawback – it’s quite difficult to absorb. But, if you combine it with black pepper, you overcome this obstacle! Thus, the Moroccan turmeric soup can greatly benefit the human health.
Why? The bioavailability and efficacy of the curcumin are significantly increased by black pepper. Studies show that if we consume 2g of pure curcumin, very small quantities go to the blood. But, if we combine it with 20mg of piperine, an ingredient present in black pepper, its availability increases by whopping 2,000 percent!
The combination of these two awesome ingredients is a powerful tool in the fight against inflammation, which may later lead to more serious chronic diseases, Alzheimer’s and even cancer. So why wait? Grab some turmeric and black pepper and start cooking!
