To Stay Healthy, Women Need To Sleep Longer Than Men. Why? The Answer Is Quite Intriguing!
Women often complain that they didn’t get enough sleep during the night. Usually, they think that they went to bed too late, or that they worked too hard, and that this is why they’re so tired. But, a study shows that there’s an actual reason why most women are always tired. And this does not include late-night partying, working late, or babysitting the kids.
Why Women Need To Sleep More Hours Than Men
The brain is the most complex organ in the human body. Many scientists have tried, and will continue to try, to find out how exactly does this organ work. However, one thing is for sure, the more we use our brain, the more tired we get. With that being said, the more sleep our brain needs.
Women have multitasking abilities. They tend to do several things at once, involving the brain in many activities. Hence, the increased need of sleep. On the other hand, men who have complex work responsibilities, making many important decisions, tend to need more sleep than average men. But, not as much as women need it!
Why the difference? Not to sound feministic, but a woman’s brain is connected differently and it’s more complex. That’s why women need a slightly longer period to rest the body. On average, this amounts to 20 minutes. But, since not all women are the same, some of them need more sleep, some need less.
A study, conducted in 2008, shows that it’s more difficult for women to fall asleep. Also, they tend to wake up frequently in the middle of the night, which makes them more tired during the day.
Lack of sleep can further cause depression, anger, lower tolerance, and be a trigger of other scarier diseases. Some of those are heart problems, mental problems and even stroke.
So, the next time your wife or girlfriend complains about being tired, give her a break. If you want your woman to be healthy and in a good mood, wake up earlier in the morning, and make her a coffee.
