Say Goodbye To The Microwave Popcorn: How To Make Homemade Popcorn Using A Special Technique
Doctors have long warned us of the harmful ingredients found in popcorn packs suitable for microwave preparation. Fortunately, there is a way to prepare this delicious snack in a healthy way.
The main problems that arise in the preparation of popcorn in a pot are burning, too much-unpopped kernels and insufficient crispiness. If you follow these tips, you can make the best popcorn so far.
How To Make Popcorn Without Microwave
What you need is:
- A pot with a large bottom
- 3 teaspoons of oil (you can use any type of oil you like, but we advise you to use canola or peanut oil because they are tasteless and have high burning point)
- Half a cup of popcorn kernels
- Oven gloves
First, pour the oil into the pot and turn on the stove to warm it. Then insert only two corn kernels inside the pot and cover it with a lid. When these “trial” popcorns pop, take them out and add all the corn kernels in the pot. You shouldn’t skip this step because you wouldn’t know when the oil is ready for your popcorn.
It’s important to start shaking the pot when you hear the first popcorn kernel pop. What you should do: shake the pot for 10 seconds, and then return it on the stove for 10 seconds. Repeat this procedure, until you stop hearing any pops in the pot. Make sure you put the oven gloves before you touch the pot because you can burn yourself.
Thanks to this step, all the popcorn will pop at the same time, and you will prevent them from burning. During the process, take the lid off a little so the steam gets out and the popcorns remain crispy. When your popcorn is done you should transfer them to a bowl and add salt on top of them. You can also add melted butter, for even richer taste.
