Xanthelasma usually affects people who have diabetes, high cholesterol levels or cirrhosis. It’s most common among people between 40 and 60 years of age. In addition, stress can also cause cholesterol deposits on the eyelids.
Natural Treatment Of The Cholesterol Deposits Around The Eyes
If you happen to have xanthelasma, due to high cholesterol, you should pay attention to your diet, so you can reduce it naturally. If dieting won’t help, consult your doctor for an additional therapy.
If you’re worried about your physical appearance, then you can try the following remedies, which have proven to be very effective in reducing the cholesterol deposits on your eyelids.
We all know what this fruit can do for our health. But, did you know that bananas can also help you with xanthelsma? Well, not the fleshy part of the banana, but its peel. That very thing that we usually throw in the garbage, after we eat the yummy, fleshy part.
Here’s what you need to do: Take one banana peel and cut it into small squares. Try to guess the size of the fat deposit on your eyelids. Then place the peel on the cholesterol deposits and tape it with a plaster. Leave it overnight. In the morning, take it off. Wash your face with lukewarm water, to remove any residue.
Garlic is amazing when it comes to treating external skin conditions. It acts like a natural antibiotic, and has anti-inflammatory effects on the skin. To treat xanthelsma, you need to chop one garlic bulb and make a paste, by crushing it in a pestle and mortar. Apply the paste on the affected area and cover it with gauze, so that the garlic cannot get into your eyes. Leave it to work for 10 to 15 minutes. Then, rinse with lukewarm water. Repeat this treatment once a day, for several days in a row.
3. Almond Powder
If your cholesterol is high, you should start consuming almonds immediately. These nuts are great for decreasing the bad cholesterol, because of their content rich in healthy fats, proteins, fibers and magnesium.
Almonds are also great for the skin. Get 3-4 almonds and a little bit of milk. Put them in a blender and pulse until you get a thick paste. Next, take a wooden spoon and apply the mixture on your eyelids, directly on the fat deposits. Leave it for a half an hour, or more, until it dries completely. Remove it gently, using your fingers and water.
All in all, cholesterol deposits around the eyes, or xanthelsma, are not a serious health condition. However, you should still take care of the inner problem that causes it. If that’s your high cholesterol levels or diabetes, consult with your doctor for the best possible treatment.
