How Does It Work?

Some people say that the cabbage itself has the capacity to burn calories. To be able to experience the powers of this diet, you need eat cabbage soup, made of cabbage and other specific vegetables and spices, for 7 consequential days. Also, the additional foods you’re allowed to eat are different every day. Everything you eat during this period, including the soup, has very few calories.

You’ll need the following ingredients:

  • 1 cabbage
  • 6 large pieces of spring onion or leek
  • 2 peppers
  • Tomato juice or a few tomatoes
  • Parsley
  • Salt, black pepper or curry (according to your preference)

Preparation:

Chop the vegetables and place them in a cooking pot. Cover them generously with water. Add the spices and cook on a high heat for 10 minutes. Then, lower the heat to medium and leave the soup until cooked. You can also add carrots if you like eating them.

Seven-Day Plan

Day 1: Besides the cabbage soup, you can also eat fruit as much as you want, except bananas.

Day 2: Combine the soup with vegetables, except for beans, corn and peas. You can also eat a baked potato with a little bit of butter, but only one.

Day 3: Eat the soup with vegetables (excluding potatoes) and fruit (except bananas).

Day 4: Besides cabbage soup, you are allowed to eat up to 8 bananas and drink skim milk, as much as you like.

Day 5: Except with soup, you can satiate your hunger with 300 grams of cooked beef, prepared on a barbecue, and with 6 fresh tomatoes. On this day, you need to drink 8 glasses of water.

Day 6: Eat cabbage soup, beef and chicken, without skin, and combine them with vegetables (except potatoes).

Day 7: Except for soup, you can also eat brown rice and vegetables (excluding potatoes). Drink as much as you want 100% natural fruit juice.

Advantages Of The Diet

While you follow this diet, you won’t feel hungry, because you can eat as much as you want of the allowed foods. This diet will help you lose weight quickly, and it’s not expensive. You just need to supply the necessary foods. When the 7-day period passes, you need to continue to lead a healthy and active life, in order to maintain your slim figure.

Disadvantages Of The Diet

Some experts say that during this diet, we lose mostly water from our bodies, rather than burning fat. Thus, the lost pounds can easily return when we stop to follow the eating regimen.

Even though you can eat as much as you want of the allowed foods, you still might feel tired and without energy. Also, the soup can quickly become boring or disgusting to your palates.

And last, but not least, this diet can lead to a deficiency in certain vitamins and minerals in the body. Hence, you’ll need to take vitamin and mineral supplements.

Precaution: The cabbage soup diet should be followed only for 7 days. If you want to continue with it, you need to make a break of at least 2 weeks, to allow your body to recover. This diet is not recommended for children and adolescents. Also, if you have heart problems, consult with your doctor before you start.
